Today's Train
Today's train will be No. 6 with the Victorian carriages 5 to 9. First train from Andrews House station at 11 am, last at 4 pm.

Tyneside Built Locos
The Tanfield Railway has a few key aims, one of which is to present the products of Tyneside locomotive builders such as Robert Stephenson and Hawthorns.
For those who are interested, there is a list of Tyneside built locomotives at Marley Hill. When you visit us, you can bring the list and do some train spotting!

Clever Turning
Jim turning a new injector steam valve spindle for Sir Cecil A Cochrane. This replacement incorporates stainless steel inserts to help reduce maintenance of the valve.
Tomorrow's Train
Tomorrow is the start of Wednesday and Thursday steam train running for five weeks, during the school summer holidays. First train will be 11 o'clock from Andrews House station, last train 3.30 pm.
"Sir Cecil A Cochrane" will be hauling the modern (1940s) 4-wheel stock.

Photographers' Delights
The shed and yard regularly attract photographers individually and in clubs, from all over North East England. On talking with them, it appears that they are in contact and competition, vying for the perfect composition, either close up or panoramic. They also spread the word about the place, leading to commercial and advertising photoshoots.

More Maintenance
Usual Tuesday - shop open for visitors (last Tuesday for a while - Wed & Thu running next week). The girls (Brenda, Susan, Margaret (with Benji)) gardening, Angela cleaning carriages (with Dave), Rob painting, Chris and Jim machining,Vic mowing, Alan odd jobbing, Ian engineering, John rewiring the crane to enable easier swapping of the power unit, and a track gang (Bill, Les, me) doing main line work this morning, repairs in the yard this afternoon between showers:

Sunday's Event - Music & Machines

The trains will be "Twizell" on the Victorian carriages, and "Sir Cecil A Cochrane" on the 1940s 4-wheel stock. From Andrews House station, the first passenger train will be at 10 am, the last at 4.25 pm. Normal fares apply, including £8 for an adult ticket (valid for travel all day).
