Uncovered by Eric today on the back of 18" oc 0-6-0ST RSH 7944 built 1957:

NCB Northumberland Area No.16
was NCB South Northumberland Area No. 62
was NCB Hartley Main Area No. 48 (4 under B)

Later rubbing down more clearly revealing 'No. 48'
