Bridge Demolition Lambton Style

Pathe 1934 film of demolition of footbridge from Sunderland town to Ayres Quay,
which crossed the Lambton Drops headshunt in Galley's Gill

The bridge was evidently rebuilt because it features on a 1938 OS map, from Gill Bridge Avenue to Farringdon Row (near the tunnel mouth entry to the drops (or staiths)).

The footbridge features in the upper right of this southward view
The bridge area was a vantage point for eastward shots
over Lambton Drops & under the Wear bridges
