Tomorrow's Trains

Twizell, built in Newcastle by Robert Stephenson & Co in 1891 for Joicey's Beamish Collieries, will haul passenger trains from Andrews House for Sunniside at 10.30 am, & thereafter from East Tanfield at 11.25 am, 12.55 pm, 2.15 pm & 3.35 pm for Causey Arch, Andrews House, Sunniside & return.   The last passenger train leaves East Tanfield at 4.55 pm for Andrews House only.

Coal Drops

We are clearing the coal drops behind Marley Hill shed so the concrete pad can be used for storage of and better access to materials.

Down the Tanfield Way to the Tyne

In part preparation for our tercentenary, Angela, Ian & I accompanied Jane Hackworth-Young from the S&DR bicentenary team & George Smith on a walk down the Tanfield Way from Marley Hill to Tyne at Redheugh.
1/4 mile north of Sunniside station, the kips are still in place at Pennyfine Road
