Coal Drops

We are clearing the coal drops behind Marley Hill shed so the concrete pad can be used for storage of and better access to materials.
Ian clearing some of the detritus which has accumulated on the coal drops .....
..... including removal of coal which has been on the drops for several years
A side view showing the coal chutes
The drops were used in the 1960s to transfer coal, brought in by road from Durham collieries, to waggons standing underneath on the former Andrews House colliery branch.   The coal was then sent onward via the Bowes Railway.
