Bowes Railway Financial Meeting

The Bowes Railway will be in a predicted deficit of £10k at the end of this financial year.   Also, Sunderland Council will withdraw all support funding to Bowes Railway from the new financial year commencing April.

There will be a meeting 10am this Sunday 16 March at the Bowes Railway to look at the future of the Railway without funding, and to examine if this is possible.   Bowes Railway Board members will be present.   Use the staff entrance beside the red brick house.

More background to this plus the latest news about the waggon shop on the Bowes blog.

BBC iPlayer

The Train Now Departing was a BBC TV series from the late 1980s which is currently available on BBC iPlayer.   One episode was Lines of Industry, which gave older views of industrial railways, plus a then current look at preservation.
