Exhibitions

On 18 September, I mentioned an exhibition at St Mary's Church, ending on 31 October, which focuses on the Tanfield Branch and Dunston Staiths.

Richard & Alan supplied much of the material for the Tanfield Branch element of the exhibition, with photos from Derek Charlton.   Some of the displays are shown below.

Waggonways in the area date from the 1600s, but the part of the Tanfield Waggonway from Sunniside to Causey which we use dates from 1725.   The Trust would like us to celebrate our tercentenary in 2025 - we will be the first railway in the world to do this.

To build up to our tercentenary, we intend each year to hold a summer exhibition.   The focus in 2016 is the Tanfield Branch, with some material presented like that above, although we also want to use other methods.   We need people to help us to prepare interpretation, displays & venues, & to interact with the public during the exhibition.   Please contact us if you would like to assist.
