Tomorrow's Trains

Passenger trains will leave Andrews House at 10.30 am, noon, 1.40 & 3.10 pm for Sunniside, Causey, East Tanfield & return.

A demonstration coal train will run at 9.40 am from Marley Hill, then between the passenger trains.

Sir Cecil A Cochrane & No.2 will be the locos in use.

Closure of Local Attractions

Several nearby cultural & educational attractions have been closed or had reduced opening over recent years.    Other sites remain under threat, associated with falling visitor numbers, increasing staff costs & overheads, & reduced core funding.
Recently, Bede's World abruptly closed 
Monkwearmouth Museum may be mothballed

Tomorrow's Trains

Passenger trains will leave Andrews House behind Twizell at 10.30 am, noon, 1.30 & 3 pm for Sunniside, Causey, East Tanfield & return.

Goods trains headed by HL No.2 will leave at 11.15 am, 12.45, 2.15 & 3.45 pm for Sunniside, then non stop to East Tanfield & non stop return to Andrews House.   There is a supplementary charge, with limited seating on this train.

Portraying Pits prior to Photography

Thomas Harrison Hair was a Victorian painter from Newcastle, noted for his watercolours & engravings of colliery scenes in North East England in the nineteenth century.   Predating photography, these images are extremely useful in depicting industrial scenes of the time.

Friar's Goose had Stephenson pumping engines which cleared 1.5 million gallons of water a day from Tyne Main Colliery at Felling.
