Rob cleaning a point rodding compensator base .....

..... & Dave cleaning the cranks
(A compensator equalizes contraction & expansion of point rodding due to temperature)

Meanwhile Dave & Nigel have dug out & unfastened crossing timbers & sleepers
which need replacing to hold the compensator & reconnect No.13 point to MH box

There's little space to manoeuvre sleepers out .....

..... nor turn & remove the defective timbers

The last defective timber being hauled out by Dave, Rob & Dave

A replacement hardwood timber (weighing over 150kg) being dragged in

Levelling the bed before fetching in a sleeper .....

..... & fastening it down to gauge
