15" Gauge

I recently visited the RH&DR, which at 13 miles is the longest "minimum gauge" railway in the UK.   15" gauge lines often carry tourists, examples being at Cleethorpes, Heatherslaw, Kirklees, Ravenglass, Romney & Saltburn.   I've found the staff on such lines to be welcoming, friendly, interested & helpful.
Pacific "Winston Churchill" bringing its train into Hythe
Pacific "Southern Maid" waiting at New Romney .....
...... to take over a Hythe bound train, whose empty stock is brought in by diesel No.12 "JB Snell"
Inside the engine shed at New Romney, showing the alternative to pits
Inside the shed extension
Carriage shed & sidings at New Romney
Waiting to leave Romney Sands station
At Dungeness, with the old lighthouse in the background .....
...... the nuclear power station ......
...... & the station, with its modern extension
The carriages are 2 or 3 (small) people wide ......
..... with sliding doors ......

,,,,,, "dicky" seats behind bucket seats over the bogies at each end
The boiler backhead of Winston Churchill
Leaving Dungeness, there is a loop of line (which turns the loco & train) laid on shingle ballast
Handing over the single line token at New Romney
(Southern Maid will have turned on the table at Hythe)
Waiting to head north from New Romney, with the shed & workshop in the mid background

Passing the track gang on the double track section between Hythe & New Romney
Returning to New Romney - the turntable road is to the right of the signalbox

Locally, there is a 15" railway at Saltburn:
Atlantic "Blacklock R" propels a generator waggon outside the shed
"Prince Charles", a diesel electric loco, on the train this afternoon
