Stockton Flyer Revisited

It's just after 1 pm, so the Stockton Flyer has emerged snorting, whistling & rotating
from hiding inside its plinth on Stockton High Street, to the delight of a few locals & visitors,
who seemed curious & bemused rather than afraid of the sight, sound & smell of the beast
This amusing but interesting artwork has been appearing since 2016

To us, it looks a bit weird as a depiction of a steam loco, although it's intended to portray S&DR's Locomotion No.1, which even now appears a strange machine to us.   However, this is how 'grasshoppers' may have seemed to contemporary locals, who'd be more used to horses, carriages, carts, wains & boats.   The S&DR would have quickly acquainted many of the locals with the future of steam technology.
