Frank Sutcliffe

Frank Sutcliffe was a resident of Whitby who in the late 1800s & early 1900s took a great many photos of Whitby & its people, particularly at work.     I came across those below in the book Frank Meadow Sutcliffe: A Second Selection.     This & other publications are commonly available, via the internet & in Whitby.
Laying a cable across the River Esk c1910 - but the 4-wheel carriages behind are of note
4 compartment carriage & what looks like a straight-sided 3 compartment bird cage brake
How much does the latter predate the NER York-built 4 cmpt brake at TR?
A 4 compartment & a more modern 5 compartment carriage
Is the latter similar to TR No.9 (NER 256)?
Caisson construction c1882 for the Larpool Viaduct over the Esk
