Summer 2023 sees the bicentenary of the world's first locomotive works at South Street, on Forth Banks between Newcastle Central Station & the Tyne.     In commemoration, the Common Room (formerly NEIMME) is hosting a presentation nearby about Robert Stephenson & the works:
The Exhibition is open until March 2023
The story of Stephenson's loco works is presented on boards & video
McDowell prints show the works at closure in 1902

Tanfield Railway aims to have Twizell, built at the works, back in service later in 2023, following boiler repairs.
