A Couple of Jobs - Mainly Coal

Ian machining an axlebox thrust plate for Horden
More FFos-y-fran coal for Andrews House on Sunday
- & more volunteers are needed for bagging
Open casting at FFos-y-fran, NE of Merthyr Tydfil.
Welsh dry steam coal is very friable, needing careful
handling - it's screened & chute loaded to reduce dust
It has low sulphur, ash & chlorine content
It ignites slowly, burns hot, produces little clinker & is smokeless

Firemen - mix any dust with lumps, anticipate steam requirements, keep primary air flowing & use a pricker to simply pierce holes in any clinker.  There are ideas & discussions on the web.
