I may be wrong, but there appears to be a couple of capping stones missing (bottom left of gable)

There's a chimney to go there, for a furnace which is to be rebuilt.
Some scaffold will remain until this corner is complete.
Most scaffold will be removed & some tidying will be done next.
The inside of the gable needs to be rendered.
Overall, we'll have repaired the front gable, which was bellied out, & from which render was falling off due to bursting at the lintels, which had rusted away.

Unknown - I ask again, who are you? If you email your reply to the address below these comments, I won't divulge your answer.

I don't mean to post as 'unknown' and I didn't realise that you'd already asked me who I am. I'm afraid I'm not computer savvy enough to adjust the settings, though I've tried. Can't find the address you mentioned, though it doesn't really matter

Thanks, David

Further info - I've been speaking with Vic, who worked as a driver at Marley Hill shed in the 1950s. He says that the furnace was kept alight 24x7, overnight by Joe Lamb, whose job included lighting locos for the morning shift.

The furnace was used to heat the shed, dry clothing, dry sand, etc. Joe had a long shovel with which he drew fire to light locos.
