49's Boiler Progress

49's boiler is under repair at Israel Newton's boiler workshop in Matlock.

The material of 49's boiler backhead was found to contain impurities.
It was decided to cut out the defective plate.

Replacement plate has been flanged, .....

..... drilled & welded in place

The foundation ring has been dressed ready for trial fitting of the inner firebox
