Weekend Return to Hetton
No.14 leaves TR for a couple of days at Hetton. It will star in tomorrow's cavalcade, part of the bicentennial celebration of Hetton Colliery Railway, the world's first to be designed & built (by George Stephenson) for locomotive working (although sections used horses, powered inclines & balanced inclines). The Hetton line helped open up deep mining in East Durham as part of the Great Northern Coalfield.
