Return of the Gala

Today's Durham Miners' Gala was the first since 2019.

Bands & banners on Elvet Bridge, heading for the racecourse

On return from the racecourse, bands play a set piece outside the County Hotel .....

..... before heading home, playing for crowds en route to the market

A few banners are blessed by the Bishop in Durham Cathedral,
in the Miners' Service, then marched out resounding to their bands
