Tanfield Railway - an Early Day

The photos below are courtesy of Chris Shearer.   They were taken around the time of Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in June 1977.   TR trains had started running between a temporary platform at Marley Hill & a temporary loop at Bowes Bridge.

Off to Bowes Bridge, half a mile away

No.32 was used on both the Bowes Railway and at East Tanfield Colliery.   It is under restoration in Derbyshire & recently featured on TR Facebook.

Before TR trains ran from Marley Hill to Bowes Bridge, this carriage was used to give rides in Marley Hill yard.   Note the verandah ends with decorative ironwork & single door each end into the saloon, similar to TR carriages 1 & 2.
