Beamish Crane in Use

A 5 ton Smith rail-mounted crane was stored by Beamish at TR for many years, during which time it was used for several engineering jobs before we got a larger crane & Beamish collected theirs.

The photos below are courtesy of Ian Cowan:
Philip steaming the crane in MH yard - no sign of sheds or shops
Tandem lift while installing the 14" x 14" wooden beams for Andrews House footbridge
Lifting Progress's tank - Ian craning, Derek slinging & could be me on No.2.
Note door to MH shed & Tommy's third emporium.
Derek & Ian placing the National diesel engine on a Shields pier bogie ......

The crane has been at Beamish Museum for many years - seen here at Rowley Sept 2020

PS I'm looking for photographic features related to TR, it aims, engineering, local history, or NE England & its people in general - have you got anything?
