Moving E9 from Westoe

The photos below of E9 being moved from Westoe Colliery (South Shields) in April 1988 are courtesy of Ian Cowan
E9 waiting by the coal washer, a long-gone coastal landmark
E9 was the Erskine Road bank loco, redundant since a conveyor was installed
Parnaby's loader arrives, with an historic winch-fitted tractor unit
Derek & Ian loading the loco ,,,,,
...... with the derailing bars removed .....
..... but there were still problems with the ramp vs the bogies
E9 is on the loader ......
..... & ready to head for Tanfield
At Bowes Bridge, pulling E9 forward to the ramp
Using match waggons to control the descent
(Bowes Bridge offloading siding was removed when ET became available)
