MS&LR TR Carriage No.8

 At Marley Hill in the early 1990s, work started to refurbish the body of ex-Manchester, Sheffield & Lincolnshire No.888, a 4-compartment brake built in 1885 at Gorton carriage works
Working on doors alongside Wellington in MH engine shed - the only covered accommodation we had at the time 
The brake end required a fair amount of work
Night shift .....

Glazing & painting well advanced
The finished carriage, ready for use

An important piece of pre-grouping railway history. Nothing much from the M.S.& L.Ry. (forerunner of the Great Central Ry.) exists.
